About the Weather Checker
Weather can wreck outdoor plans, formal wear, and tailgate setups. The checker shows typical temperatures, precipitation odds, and conditions by city and month based on long-term averages — useful for planning what to wear on the bus, whether to add an indoor backup venue, and how to brief guests on the dress code well before the day-of, when wardrobe decisions are still flexible.
For events 2+ months out, the typical-weather data is the best forecast available since real forecasts only stretch about 10 days out reliably. As the date approaches, cross-reference with live forecasts and adjust the plan. Major buffers to plan around: outdoor tailgates need a heated backup November through March in northern cities; outdoor weddings need shade or AC backup June through August in southern markets; outdoor brewery tours need rain plans year-round in the Pacific Northwest.
Typical-weather data is historical averages, not predictions for your specific date. Climate volatility means individual days can swing 20–30 degrees off the historical average without warning. Plan for a 10-degree buffer in either direction, especially for shoulder-season events (April, May, October), and have a written rain plan for any event with outdoor components. Pair this checker with the Packing Checklist Generator for weather-appropriate item lists.
