The first motorized bus service began in 1895 in Siegerland, Germany, running a route between Siegen and Netphen. It used a Benz-powered Landauer that carried 6 passengers. Within 20 years, motor buses were replacing horse-drawn omnibuses in cities worldwide, launching the modern transit era.
